My father started a leather factory in Colombia in the 1940s. As a young girl, I worked in their leather goods store. By the time I graduated high school, my parents had several stores, one of which I managed myself before going to the USA for college.

Di Angela Leather was created as a wholesale distributor to bring Colombian products to America. We sold to stores all over the USA and the Virgin Islands, growing to serve over 100 accounts!

 

In the 1980s, the economic downturn caused us to rethink our business model. We opened our first retail location in Southold, NY. A month later we opened our second store nearby in Greenport. Soon after we grew to 2 other locations: East Hampton and Port Jefferson.

We eventually consolidated our franchise to our Greenport location where we have been serving customers for over 30 years. 

 

Most recently we rebranded as “Di Angela,” to emphasize our variety of products.

I try to follow the steps and teachings of my parents: be fair, be kind, be helpful, and treat people well.
